Subtleties is a song which encapsulates the contrast between pressure and love, forging a new style of indie-folk, with sound inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell and The Middle Kids. Written as Rose was coming into her skin as a proud queer woman, Subtleties dives listeners into the intricacies of sexuality and identity, all while holding onto the importance of your own history. Teaming up with Melbourne producer, Jake Amy, Subtleties was recorded in the later months of 2019 and through to 2020. Collaborating with mastered Becki Whitton (Huntly, G-Flip, Tash Sultana), Half the Andes have curated an intimate and open style, drawing from the sounds of each band member.
“Subtleties is a captivating slow burn that is both tender and powerful.”

“Subtleties will make you remember every time you wanted a hug but all you got was a handshake. Feels.”
— Clap for Alaska
A song about love and enjoying the space you're in.
